Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel became an aspiring young lady living in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. Her early ambition was to be a dancer but a growth spurt resulted in her outgrowing her dance partners. A Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. After I became too big for my male companions, I quit. Bruce was among the former dancers who shifted to acting. Her teacher from high school was the one who pushed her to take the next step. She was encouraged to try out for roles in her school's production. She tried out and was eventually cast as the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. In the past 20 years, her work has been featured on both the small and big screen. She gained the most attention when she won her role as Rita on the award-winning TV series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian of the season 1 actors of the series as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
